Essay

The thesis provides the holistic overview of the theoretical foundations, formation and development of the system of pedagogical provision for gifted school students in the East Ukrainian region at the end of the 20th century – at the beginning of the 21st century. The problem of regionalization of pedagogical provision of gifted students in the East Ukrainian region has been analysed at the theoretical level; the criteria, indicators and conditions of effectiveness of the corresponding system in the regional aspect have been determined. The regional system of pedagogical provision for gifted school students has been defined as a holistic set of objects and subjects of this activity, its goals, content, conditions of effectiveness, methods of pedagogical communication, determined by specific regional characteristics, aimed at identifying and developing personal gifts based on the person’s individual-typological features, demand for innovation of regional community and Ukrainian society as a whole. The system includes objects, subjects, objectives determined by regional specificity, content, conditions of effectiveness, methods of pedagogical communication aimed at identifying and developing students’ abilities. The main functions of the corresponding system are to diagnose and develop creative potential of gifted students, to stimulate their continuous development, to assist in the identification and implementation of individual trajectories of personal progress. Periodization of the development of the corresponding system in the East Ukrainian region has been substantiated. The practices of teacher training work have been presented. The identified progressive ideas and best practices of pedagogical provision for gifted students have been recommended for their implementation in the education system of Ukraine. Practical experience of pedagogical provision for gifted students in Donetsk and Luhansk regions has been summarized: its implementation based on the development of relevant regional programs; strategies of differentiating the content of education of gifted students (intensification, acceleration, enrichment); extracurricular activities with gifted students, their involvement in research activities; appropriacy of the most common methods for identifying and stimulating gifted students. The most common forms and methods of pedagogical provision have been systematized. Recommendations on the use of the positive East Ukrainian experience of pedagogical provision for gifted school students are made, which can be used by other regional educational systems of Ukraine.
