Essay

The thesis is devoted to the holistic systemic analysis of organizational and pedagogical conditions of continuing professional education of teachers of English in the countries of the European Union in the context of globalization, internationalization and integration processes in the field of education. The state of the art of the problem in the contemporary scientific pedagogical discourse is found out. The methodological basis of the study of organizational and pedagogical conditions of continuing professional education of teachers of English in the European countries is revealed. The basic concepts and terms of continuing professional education of teachers of English in the EU countries are defined and characterized It has been found out that the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of continuing professional education of the English language teachers in the EU countries are based on three main aspects: taking into account the situation with the development of pedagogical heritage of European countries, their culture, traditions, customs, etc.; normative frameworks on which the European system of continuing professional education of teachers of English and the corresponding education systems in each EU country are based; interdisciplinary study of the problem of continuing professional education of the English language teachers. The main tendencies of the development of the continuing education system of the English language teachers in the EU member states are substantiated, as well as the factors that determine the organization and functioning of the system of continuing education of teachers of English in the European countries. The following aspects of implementing effective teacher education policies in the EU have been determined and analyzed: demographics and working conditions; initial teacher education and transition to profession; postgraduate education and professional development of teachers; international mobility; attractiveness of the teaching profession. All of them have been studied through the viewpoint of globalization, internationalization and multicultural character of education in order to provide the proper state of the European system of the English language teacher professional education.
