Object – development of pedagogical education in Ukraine during the 19th – early 20th century; the aim is to systematize the theoretical provisions, scientific substantiation of stages of development and generalization of experience in organizing pedagogical education in the system of educational institutions of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine (the 19th – early 20th century) to identify prospects for creative use of progressive achievements in modern conditions; methods – general scientific (analysis, synthesis, comparison, collation, generalization, systematization), historical (chronological, typological, logical-historical, retrospective, historical-genetic, biographical), comparison-collation (prognostic and interpretive analysis); novelty – the history of the research problem and methodological approach to the researching (systemic, synergetic, culturological, axiological, deontological, gender, historical-pedagogical, historiographical, hermeneutic) openly and systematized ideas (content-targetal, didactic-instrumental, organizing-pedagogical) and introduced and characterized by additions of pedagogues, theologians of the research period in the development of the theory of educational pedagogy; the stage of the provincial tendencies for the development of pedagogical education in the Orthodox Church in the Ukrainian provinces of the Russian Empire was established, I stage (1808 – the first half of the Sixties of the 19th century) – the process of sealing the church of the Orthodox Church for the preparation of students and seminarians to the religious and moral conviction of the flock, II stage (the second half of the Sixties of the 19th century – the first half of the Eighties of the 19th century) – the addition of the serpent of pedagogical enlightenment in the primary churches of the Orthodox Church by the preparation of pupils to teaching activity in the spiritual and primary schools, the introduction of the education of pedagogy as a canonic subject, the preparation of forms and methods of pedagogical training, III stage (the second half of the Eighties of the 19th century – the first half of the Nineties of the 19th century) – doubtful innovations in the content and organization of pedagogical education and directing for the expansion of practical training in teachers of primary schools, IV stage (the second half of the Nineties of the 19th century – 1918) – the perishing of the theoretical and practical educators in pedagogical education in the primary institutions of the Orthodox Church; the public awareness of the organization of pedagogical education in the systems of the institutions of the Orthodox Church of the research period and separately the prospects of its creative use in modern conditions; results – provisions, conclusions, recommendations, factual historical and pedagogical material can be used in the development and teaching of subjects in higher education, including theology, as well as in compiling textbooks, manuals, encyclopedic and biographical publications on the genesis of pedagogical education in Ukraine.
