Essay

The object of research is the system of out-of-school education in Ukraine; the subject of research is the development of theoretical foundations and practice of out-of-school educational system in Ukraine (1952–2014); the purpose of research is to comprehensively characterize the theoretical and organizational principles of out-of-school education as an integral part of the state educational system and their implementation in the practice of out-of-school educational institutions, to identify trends in the content of out-of-school education in different historical periods in the context of socio-political and socio-cultural conditions for the sake of justifying the ways of creative use of progressive ideas of this historico-pedagogical experience in modern conditions; methods - general scientific – analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization, retrospection, comparison; historico-pedagogical – narrative method; method of scientific classification; historico-structural; historico-comparative; method of periodization; the scientific novelty of the results obtained is the fact that for the first time in historico-pedagogical research the theory and practice of out-of-school education of Ukraine in the second half of XX - early XXI century is completely and comprehensively described.
