This thesis sets out to provide the first identification and depiction of poem macro-image structure relevant for poem interpretation, pre-translating analysis, translation and assessment of its quality; to devise macro-image method of original poetry and its translation research; to introduce and substantiate subsemantic image notion; to treat a poem as macro-image structural formation consisting of image systems which adequate rendering reflects unity of original poem content and form in translation; to qualify a poem implied sense as constituent feature of its macro-image structure compulsory for translation; to investigate the ways of poetical implied sense creation and reproduction in translation; to determine multi-vector implied sense; to verify the types of untranslatable implied sense; to introduce and substantiate contextual phonetic semantics notion as a translation object; to provide new definition of poetical translation. The research depicts less known poem image structure components; offers a number of notions identifying phenomena that are translation quality indicators to be introduced into translation study scientific usage; investigates the ways of rendering these phenomena as means of representation of a poetical piece image content, provides their definitions, grounds terms signing them among which are: macroimage of poetical work, poem subsemantic image, conceptual subsemantic image, local subsemantic image, simultaneous subsemantic image, multi-vector subsemantic image, contextual sound semantics, strict and relatively proportional equilinearity and some others. The first chapter attempts at scrutiny of the most significant scientific approaches to translation study; considers and specifies appropriate terms. Significant part of this chapter is focused on the research of the integrity of a poem as macro-image in its original and translation versions as well as on disclosing and depicting its structural image dimensions. A poem has been comprehended as complex macro-image structure that combines image systems of autosemantic, synsemantic and subsemantic levels which are mutually conditioned and interacting poem dimensions needing full value reconstruction in translation taking into consideration their hierarchy and other relations within the macro-image and broader contexts. The second chapter presents the newly worked out research methodology of poetical original and its translation by means of poem macro-image scheme analysis as well as the outline of methods combined in it.
