The dissertation presents the results of a comprehensive study of the problem of development of pedagogical biographical studies in Ukraine in the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century.
The object of research is pedagogical biographical studies as a direction of development of historical and pedagogical science in Ukraine. The subject of the research is methodology, source studies, historiography, bibliography of Ukrainian pedagogical biographical studies. The purpose of the study is to determine the theoretical and methodological foundations and leading trends in the formation of pedagogical biographical studies as a separate direction of historical and pedagogical science in Ukraine in the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century. and outline ways to use the results of the study in the development of modern scientific and pedagogical knowledge and the educational process.
Clarified the theoretical and methodological foundations of pedagogical biographical research (scientific principles, methodological approaches, subject area), identified interdisciplinary connections and scientific and operational tools for studying pedagogical personalities.
The key parameters of pedagogical biography as a direction of historical and pedagogical science, which has its own object (biography, creative heritage, professional and social activity of the pedagogical personality and the variety of its connections with the socio-cultural environment), the subject (principles and process of organizing research work), goals, tasks, scientific tools are substantiated.
Trends and features of the development of pedagogical biographical studies in Ukraine during the periods that became the subject of the study are revealed. The first is Soviet – 1946-1991, its content and character reflect four stages: 1) «late Stalinism» of the second half of the 40s-first half of the 50s of the XX century (depersonalization of pedagogical thought and exclusion of representatives of Ukrainian science and education from it); 2) “Khrushchev thaw” of the second half of the 50s – 60s of the XX century. (activation of research on carriers of national pedagogical thought of the XVI – XVIII centuries, search for optimal approaches to the interpretation of their work); 3) “Brezhnev stagnation” of the 70s-first half of the 80s of the XX century (politicization, ideologization, socialization of historical and pedagogical science, depersonalization of its subject field); 4) “Gorbachev's perestroika” of the second half of the 80s of the XX century (activation of public and scientific interest in undeservedly forgotten, little – known figures of national pedagogical thought). The second is the national – state – 1991–2020, its nature and features indicate two stages: 1) “methodological re-equipment” 1991–2000 (approval of the National-oriented paradigm, updating the source base and research tools); 2) structural and content restructuring during the first decades of the XXI century (approval of scientific pluralism, interiorization of Western humanitarian Innovations; a course to improve the methodological culture and integrity of scientists, etc.).
The article describes the development of pedagogical bibliography and biobibliography in Ukraine in the measurement of structural and typological analysis. A two-level model of classification of sources of pedagogical biographical studies has been developed.
The possibilities and prospects of creative application of the research results through the improvement of research technology in pedagogical biographical studies, the use of its experience in the educational process of professional training of future teachers are outlined.
