Panchenko V. Art in a Context of Culture.

The thesis develops a concept of Art as a phenomenon of Culture. It brings significant changes in understanding of art appearance, reasons and conditions for the variety of art sorts, evolution of artistic mastering of world, connection between cultural context and art perception. Analysis of modern knowledge of primary art forms was made. The analysis has extracted basic artistic means (rhythm, intonation, metaphor, myth, symbol and archetype) creating these forms. Artistic means gave possibility to develop art into separated cultural phenomenon, being formed in a unity of practical and mental activity. Thesis explores architecture, mythology, sculpture, tragedy, painting, literature and shows their organic appearance to be a result of specific cultural conditions. Sorts of art are shown to be directed towards mastering of base of human existence.
