In substantiation of the relevance of the chosen topic of the research, it is noted that nowadays the process of updating the national economy is faced with the problems of limited resources and environmental pollution, which in the future should have a negative impact on production resources. The issue of ensuring long-term preservation of the natural environment while simultaneously supporting sustainable economic development on an innovative basis is becoming more and more important. Even now, according to the World Conservation Fund, human needs in terms of resources exceed the Earth's capacity by as much as 50%. The main task of the modern management system is the development of mechanisms for the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development on the basis of the "green" economy. These mechanisms should harmonize the interests of the state, business and community, integrate the "green" economy into the process of improving the state's economic policy, and create conditions for increasing the level of the country's development and the quality of life of the population.
Based on the results of the research, the conceptual provisions of the Strategy for the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development of the "green" economy in Ukraine, the strategic goal is to achieve sustainable development on the basis of "green" economy, which contributes to the solution of economic, ecological and social problems, by using a complex mechanism that will satisfy the needs of current generations in the future, without violating the satisfaction of the needs of future generations. The directions that will ensure compliance with the strategic approach are defined: the direction of energy efficiency, the direction of effective use of resources, the direction of using energy-saving and energy-efficient technologies and the direction of the spread of the ideology of the "green" economy.
The substantiation of the complex mechanism for the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development on the basis of the "green" economy has been improved. It includes: subjects, objects of state policy, goals, mechanisms elucidated, the very tools available to state authorities to create the conditions for the transition and its acceleration to the "green" economy are given. The periodization of the state policy of sustainable development in Ukraine is established. In particular, it is determined that the formation and implementation started as early as 1997 and has been developing for approximately twenty-five years. Four periods have been identified from the formation to the development of the state policy of sustainable development (1997-present), which made it possible to develop scientifically based practical recommendations for improving the mechanisms for implementing the state policy of sustainable development of the "green" economy in Ukraine.
In accordance with the issues of the research, the generalization of foreign experience in the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development of the "green" economy. All countries of the world single out the energy sector, with the use of RES and increasing the level of energy efficiency, as one of the development priorities. Moreover, the country's policy is aimed at building a model of the so-called "green" or "low-carbon" economy by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing the negative impact on the environment. This is implemented using both the use of fiscal incentives: the establishment of preferential taxation or the introduction of "green" taxes on activities that do not harm the environment; the content of the concept is also clarified: the mechanism for the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development of the "green" economy is a system of interconnected mechanisms and tools with the help of which subject-object relations of state policy arise, ensure the transition to the principles of the "green" economy and the use new technologies for the production and consumption of goods and services that do not harm the natural environment and do not endanger the ability to meet the needs of future generations.
The results obtained in the research collectively made it possible to solve a specific scientific and practical task, which consists in substantiating theoretical provisions and to develop practical recommendations for the implementation of the state policy of sustainable development on the basis of the "green" economy in Ukraine.
