The work is devoted to deepening the theoretical foundations, improving methodological provisions and developing scientific and practical recommendations for ensuring the economic security of national economies in the context of global regionalization.
The thesis improves the scientific and theoretical approaches to the study of economic security in the context of global regionalization by clarifying its modern architecture, namely based on the formed comparative profile of the institutional framework of security systems in the regions of the world, a typology of interstate institutions that form the architecture of regional security complexes is proposed, which became the basis for substantiating the construction of a matrix of appropriate institutional support for regional economic security systems. The methodological foundations of the study of global regionalization are developed by identifying a new format of interregional relations, which are determined by a high level of institutionalization (biregionalism), which actively involve countries/integration associations/regional groups of different continental affiliation, between which an extensive system of relations is established (transnational interregionalism), including in the format of a strategic partnership (hybrid interregionalism), and the corresponding refinement of the hierarchy of economic security levels and its respective structural components, which corresponds to the current spatial structure of the world economy and influences the determination of strategic priorities for the security of the national economy and its involvement in regional security complexes.
Based on the systematization of the theory and concept of regional security in a logical and consistent evolution based on relevant features, the author distinguishes models of regional security cooperation, which include alliances, the collective security model, security regime model, security community model, which determines further research in security studies.
The conceptual framework for determining the directions of global transformations was further developed, taking into account the critical impact of the russian-Ukrainian war on the formation of global security by areas and directions of influence on the security development of national economies, namely economic, socio-demographic, natural and environmental, technological, political and ideological (geopolitical), cultural and civilizational (pre-war, determining until 2022); reconfiguration of economic models, social polarization, environment and sustainability, health and well-being, technological convergence, weakening of the influence of power and increasing uncertainty, geopolitical fragmentation, individual empowerment and changing values (those that have been actualized in the context of hostilities, determinative from 2022).
An improved scientific and methodological approach to the assessment of economic security is proposed, which, firstly, includes the proposed integral indicator of the leadership positions of countries in the global environment; secondly, it combines different focuses of assessment of elements of the economic security system at the relevant hierarchical levels (global, regional and national), namely assessment of the global security environment through the analysis of threats and risks; multi-criteria assessment of the positions of countries in the global economic environment; comparative analysis of regional security complexes; assessment of the foreign trade component in the economic security system, analysis of national peculiarities of the economic security system, which, when applied in the security assessment system, allows to identify and substantiate practical recommendations for improving the sustainability of development and strengthening security positions of the country. The methodological tools for assessing the foreign trade component of economic security have been improved, namely, an integral index of the foreign trade component of economic security has been proposed, which takes into account quantitative measurements of the level of the foreign trade component (share of exports and imports of goods and services in GDP and in world trade, share of high-tech exports in GDP, foreign trade turnover per capita, coefficient of export growth over imports, indices of balance sheet, terms of trade, export concentration, and export diversification), the application of which in practice allows identifying risks in the foreign trade security system and assessing its impact on other factors that determine the sustainability of socio-economic development of countries.
