Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the detection of specific nature of aestheticism and the disclosing of historical dynamics of aestheticism formation in the context of the West-European romanticism. The romanticism has acted in the West-European culture as an antithesis to domination of absolutisation of mind and abstract identity of morals within the limits of a classical paradigm of philosophising, namely as an antithesis to an aesthetics of the Age of Enlightenment. Aestheticism which had rather independent stage of development within the limits of the West-European aesthetics for some time, at the consecutive expansion finds the place in a context of the romantic concept and, eventually, acts as the highest step of development of romanticism and its logical end. If the romanticism has defined itself through the external opposition to the Age of Enlightenment, aestheticism reproduces internal contradictions of a romantic collision in the brief kind. This analysis has in itself not only the theoretical duty, but is carried out by application of the concept of aestheticism in art practice 18-19 centuries and can serve as criterion for art criticism classifications and art criticism. In dissertational research the careful analysis of a cultural-historical and theoretical correlation of romanticism and aestheticism is conducted, their fundamental characteristics are defined.
