The dissertation is devoted to the comprehension of the phenomenon of visual translation of a literary text, which is defined as interspecific artistic translation between the word and the image. The possibility of the translation is grounded on the compound structure of translatability, which corresponds to three levels of a work of art - the linguistic, the textual and semantic ones.
