Essay

Object of research - school in Transcarpathia in the first half of the 20th century. Subject of research - civil education of the scholars of public and citizen schools in the creative heritage of Transcarpathian educational personalities (1919 - 1939). Research goal - to analyze the problems of development of the theory and practice of civil education of the scholars of public and citizen schools in polycultural medium of Transcarpathia in the post-war period. Methods of research: specific search methods (theoretical analysis, synthesis, material and document systematization and classification), historical and geographic methods (studies of the specific character of regional development of a system of civil education), chronological methods, comparative historical methods, interpretation, theoretical generalization and comparison of processed materials for the formation of conclusions and determination of the possibilities of the use of historical experience of civil education in the contemporary training and education process. The most essential results obtained by respondent in the course of research consist in that she has analyzed the state of the problem under study in the history of domestic pedagogic thought, found preconditions of the development of civil education in the region, developed conceptual grounds of civil education of the scholars of public and citizen schools in Transcarpathia (1919-1939), characterized the role and significance of a school in the civil education of scholar youth, determined the possibility of creative use of historical experience on the civil education in the training and educational process in the contemporary comprehensive school. Scientific novelty and theoretical significance of research consist in that the theoretical accomplishments of the educational personalities on the problems of civil education in the context of polycultural educational area of Transcarpathia have been analyzed for the first time. This allowed the civil education valuables to be substantiated, the specific features of civil education in the period under study to be found, the pedagogic theory to be complemented by scientific knowledge on the evolution of the concept of "civil science", the essence, forms and methods of civil education of scholar youth to be clarified and new historical facts and out-of-the-way archive documents to be introduced into scientific custom. Practical significance of the results obtained lies in the systematization and generalization of accumulated material on the problems of civil education of the scholars of public and citizen schools of Transcarpathia that makes a basis for the studies of polycultural educational area in multinational Ukraine. Materials, basic concepts and conclusions of research make a ground for the development of special courses on pedagogy, training and educational aids. Theoretical developments of Ukrainian pedagogues of Transcarpathia are a valuable source for contemporary scholar practice that works on the search for an optimal model of civil education and allows the forms and methods of educational work with scholars of comprehensive schools to be diversified and the professional skills of teachers and educators to be enriched. The materials and conclusions of dissertation research could be used in the process of teaching the courses on the theory and history of pedagogy, in the development of special courses and seminars on the problems of civil education, composition of textbooks, scientific, methodical and educational aids on pedagogy and history of pedagogy, as well as in the organization of training and educational work during studying the subjects of social research cycle in the modern contemporary school.
