The thesis is devoted to the problem of the correction of behavior of difficult senior school pupils in the course of educational-upbringing process at a general-education school. The main periods in the development of the problem of correcting the behavior of the above-mentioned category of pupils, were defined. The essence, structure and content of the correction of behavior were specified; the conceptual peculiarity of the notion "difficult for upbringing" in its historical retrospective was revealed. Pedagogical conditions of the correction of difficult pupils' behavior were substantiated and checked up; special program, the realization of which provided successful correction of socially maladjusted senior pupils' behavior in the educational-upbringing process of the general-education school was created and tested; problematic seminar on the aspects of tutor's work with difficult senior schoolchildren was created and put into practical work of modern general education schools; special course "Pedagogical skill of a teacher in the work with difficult children" was already introduced into the educational process of some pedagogical higher educational institutions; pedagogical recommendations for tutors concerning the organization of the process of upbringing of socially maladjusted senior school pupils, as well as for their families, were worked out
