Оbject – aesthetic education of students; aim - to make complete analysis of pedagogical theory and generalize the experience of use of individual approach in aesthetic education of students in educational establishments of Ukraine in the second half of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century on the basis of study, systematisation of historical-pedagogical and art sources, archival materials; methods - analytical, historical-comparative, retrospective, comparative analysis of scientific-pedagogical literature, archival documents, educational materials; chronological; novelty - complete scientific analysis of the problem of individual approach in aesthetic education of students is made; the role of individual approach as a mean of aesthetic education of schoolchildren is revealed; contribution of leading teachers and artists of the analysed period to the use of individual approach is characterized; forms, methods, modes, techniques of the use of individual approach in aesthetic education of students in educational establishments of Ukraine of the analysed period are generalized; results are determined by elaboration of the optional course "Role of individual approach in aesthetic education of students" which was approved in Kharkiv EPC № 169.
