Essay

Object – educational process in Slobozhanschyna primary schools (the second half of the XIXth – the beginning of the XXth century); aim - to investigate and systematize theoretical matters and generalize the practical experience of teaching Singing in the primary schools of Slobozhanschyna of the researched period; methods – theoretical (general scientific, historical-comparative, system-structural) and empirical (observational and retrospective); novelty - the views of outstanding educators on teaching Singing are systematized, the stages of introducing Singing as a curriculum discipline are scientifically grounded, the teaching Singing programmes according to the revealed stages are analysed and the ways of introducing the progressive methods and organizational forms of teaching Singing in the teaching process of a modern primary school are offered; results – a specialized course “History of Choir Singing” has been worked out and is introduced in the curriculum of the department of primary educationof Kharkiv G.S.Skovoroda National Pedagogical University (Kharkiv) and of Poltava V.G.Korolenko National Pedagogical University; speciality – General Pedagogics and History of Pedagogics.
