The object - nature education of primary school pupils; the aim - to generalize the theory and systematize the experience of nature education in primary school during the period under research; the methods - historical-pedagogic, theoretical, system-structural; problem-oriented, comparative, historical-retrospective; the novelty - the complex analysis of the theory and practice of junior pupils' nature education has been carried out for the first time, the stages of nature education development are substantiated, scientific and pedagogical ideas are generalized, the tendencies in the development of nature education are revealed, perspectives for the creative use of nature education theoretical ideas and practice of the past in modern times are worked out; the results - conclusions and recommendations have been considered and are used in the teaching process, the special course "Nature Education in Primary School: Historic Aspect" for the students of higher educational institutions has been worked out.
