Essay

This thesis work is dedicated to analysis of synthesis phenomenon in terms of arts aspectual specificity which belongs to topical issues of aesthetics and is related to substantiation of artistic culture development ways, both in theoretical and practical aspects. Basing herself upon theoretical and methodological framework, the author of this research study has analyzed aesthetical and art historical approach to the problem of synthesis of arts, starting since XIX-XX centuries up to modern period and discovered the role of the particular artists' creative work in the process of inter-specific synthesis of arts formation. Aesthetical and artistic peculiarities of "polyphonical arts" were determined and it was shown how synthesis of literature, painting and music, in accordance with psychological or technical and science advantages of each form of art, enabled them to retain their aesthetical value and self-sustainability in the process of their historical development. Synaesthesia was studied in the context of aesthetical and artistic peculiarities of "polyphonical arts" appearing as one of paradigms of synthesis. It was substantiated that interpretation may act as an essential factor of a new artistic phenomenon formation which contributes to appearance of new pieces of work in the cinema art, theatre, choreography and music, their original source being literature. "The Forest Song" interpretations in various kinds of art experience was reconstituted as well the literary source "translation" into language of other forms of arts (opera, ballet, cinema) gains and losses were analyzed. The analysis performed allows us to conclude that the dramatic, musical and choreographical experiences were the most successful of many other attempts to interpret Lesia Ukrainka's drama-spectacular "The Forest Song" studied in the thesis work.
