Object - the shaping the identity of a child by means of the children's literature; goal - to learn, to analyse and to systematise theoretical ideas, to generalise the got positive experience on use of the children's literature as a means of the shaping the identity during the investigated period and to open the possibilities of its use in modern conditions; methods - chronological, analytical, historical-comparative, retrospective, historical-genetic, comparative; novelty - the possibilities of the children's literature in the course of shaping the identity of a child_in the second half of the ХІХth century - the beginning of the ХХth centuries for the first time are analysed; progressive ideas of known domestic teachers concerning the maintenance and the specificity of the children's literature in its influence on the identity of a child are generalised; the practical experience of the organisation of the children's reading both at lessons, and in after-hour time by educational institutions during the investigated period is systematised; the prospects of creative use of a positive heritage of the past concerning the use of the children's literature as a means of shaping the identity in modern conditions are established; results - introduction of conclusions and recommendations into the teaching process of the high pedagogical educational institutions; the development of special courses "the Role of the children's literature as a means of shaping the identity of the child"; usage of materials of dissertation during the organization of the future teachers' practice and in the process of the post-graduated education; speciality - General Pedagogic and History of Pedagogic.
