The thesis is devoted to the French media discourse study, namely to the revealing modern social and political life in Ukraine. Lingvopragmatic and cognitive aspects of the newspaper articles on issues in Ukraine were studied. The following lexical and stylistic means used to highlight life in Ukraine were distinguished: conceptual metaphor, comparison, phraseological unit, cliche, realia, paraphrase, allusion, repetition of words and phrases. Classification of the paraphrases on the basis of extralinguistic nomination characteristics was suggested. Frame modeling of the concepts UKRAINIAN PEOPLE and ELECTION was done, their metaphorical representation models were revealed. The work examines linguistic specificity of the texts about modern Ukraine and stereotypes perception in the French media discourse.
