Essay

This thesis focuses on the study of the ways of logoepistemes’ formation and their functioning peciluarities in French media discourse. From the perspective of intertextuality and polyphony transformed logoepistemes are viewed as a result of the language game and are proved to cause certain changes in the conceptual picture of the world in French social community. The thesis offers a classification of logoepistemes’ transformation mechanisms and defines their role in pragmatic segmentation of the media text. On the basis of the correlation types between initial and transformed logoepistemes the following transformational motivations have been singled out: background knowledge motivation, analogy, conceptual metaphor, conceptual metonymy, conceptual integration motivation, and pseudomotivation. Frequency analysis of logoepistemes of different genres in French media discourse has led to the conclusion about its proverbiocentric nature.
