Essay

The dissertation deals with the upbringing of the sense of national identity in senior pupils by means of environmental protection activity in Canadian schools. On the basis of a thoroughly done study and analysis of a great number of literary sources devoted to this sense of national identity by means of environmental protection activities in a growing generation of Canadian pupils a historic prerequisite of actualization of this problem was determined, ways and methods of its solution were considered, achievements and errors in this domain of pedagogical science and school practice in Canada were revealed. The family role in fostering a sense of national identity by means of environmental protection in pupils of senior school age was disclosed and analyzed, a goal, sub-goals, a content and pedagogical technologies of their realization in educational and upbringing process of school and extra-curricula activity were substantially analyzed. Pedagogical conditions in which a professional teacher training for upbringing of the sense of national identity in senior pupils by means of environmental protection activities were investigated. An experience of upbringing of the sense of national identity by means of environmental protection activity in schools of Canada was generalized, possibilities of its use in schools of Ukraine, taking into account traditions, modern demands and tendencies which are revealed in the national upbringing of the Ukrainian youth of the given school age were determined.
