Object of study: student migration as a complex social, demographic and economic phenomenon; purpose of study: improvement of theoretical provisions and methodological framework of regulation of student migration in Ukraine within international context and development of research-based practical recommendations on their use; methods of study and tools: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization and concretization, classification, comparison, statistical and economic analysis, expert assessment, sociological surveying, ranking correlation, hierarchy analysis, multidimensional factor analysis, cognitive modeling, fuzzy set, and scenario approach methods; theoretical and practical results: cognitive model of international student migration process which incorporates systemized interrelated factors of influence and effects from international student migration at every level of regulation; definition of terms: ‘human migration’ which combines inner features of individuals, migration process and its result; ‘student migration’ which incorporates main particularities of student migration processes; classification of student migration, which includes adaptation of existing classification features of migration to the student migration with detailed definition of its types in accordance with Ukrainian law; incorporation of the additionally suggested classification feature: ‘financing of student migration’; methodological recommendations on formation of scenarios regulating international student migration processes at university level; methodological framework of regulation of international student migration, distinguishable for formation of comprehensive measures in accordance with national, regional and university levels based on regulation process phases; systemization and assessment of factors influencing international student migration, distinguishable for comprehensive classification based on: levels of influence, essence and possibility of regulation; principles of devising the national policy regulating international student migration, distinguishable for integration of principles of migration and education policies; degree of implementation: the findings were implemented in practical activities of Department of Economy and International Relations of Kharkiv Oblast State Administration, regional Board of Prorectors for Foreign Student Relations, P. Vasylenko Kharkiv National Technical University of Agriculture, Ukrainian Academy of Engineering and Pedagogy, S. Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics; scope of application: regulation of international student migration processes.
