Essay

For the first time the influence of gene polymorphisms of xenobiotic detoxication enzymes at the risk of development of chronic hepatitis C, severity of the disease and treatment efficiency was established. An association of genotype GSTM1+ with increased risk of developing of chronic hepatitis C, and genotypes GSTM1null and DD of gene CYP2E1 (polymorphism CYP2E1*6 in the 6 intron) with severity of chronic hepatitis C was found. It was established that the mutant allele G of gene GSTP1 (genotypes AG and GG) or mutant allele C of gene CYP2E1 (genotype CD) are prognostic favorable factors and, conversely, the genotypes AA of gene GSTP1 and DD of gene CYP2E1 are negative predictors of results of therapy by PEG interferon. It was found more efficient use of PEG IFN-?-2a relatively PEG IFN -?-2b. It was established trend towards better biochemical response for Legalon treatment in patients with genotypes GSTT+, GSTM+, AA of gene GSTP1 and CD of gene CYP2E1. Genetic testing of patients with chronic hepatitis C will optimize pharmacotherapy and improve the quality of life of the patients.
