Object - the process of students' extracurricular activity in higher technical educational institutions; the aim - to find out the influence of implementation of theoretically substantiated pedagogical conditions on the changes in the levels of students' subject position formation in higher technical educational institutions; methods - theoretical, empirical, statistical; novelty - the research is the first to provide a theoretical analysis and experimentally test the pedagogical conditions of forming students' subject position during their extracurricular activity in higher technical educational institutions; the understanding of students' subject position in students of higher technical educational institutions has been specified as an integral personality quality reflecting a student's active and selective, initiative and responsibility-based creative attitude to him/herself, his/her own education, various aspects of activity and is revealed in one's conscious choice of profession of engineer, in one's self-realization as a subject of his/her own life being, comprehension of the existing requirements to the personality of an engineer and desire to meet them, realizing the opportunities higher technical education offers for one's personal and professional development and the intention to use them; its structural components, the potential of extracurricular activity for forming students' subject position; criteria and indices of students' subject position formation have been analysed; the forms and methods of students' extracurricular activity directed at forming their subject position in higher technical educational institutions have acquired further investigation; results - the researched pedagogical conditions of forming students' subject position during their extracurricular activity have been experimentally tested and are recommended for the implementation in the teaching process in higher technical educational institutions. The author has worked out and implemented the programme of the scientific seminar for the officials responsible for the organization of extracurricular activity for students in higher technical educational institutions. The scientific and methodological materials of the research concerning forming of future engineers' subject position during extracurricular activity will be helpful to scholars, managers in higher education, academics, academic group tutors, officials responsible for the organization of students' extracurricular activity ; field - pedagogy.
