A complex analysis was carried out and a historical and pedagogical solution to the problem of the development of the idea of student youth’s tolerance in the national pedagogical thought from the second half of the XX till the beginning of the XXI centuries was proposed in this work. With the help of general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization), three historiographic periods are distinguished: 1) preparatory (from the end of the 50’s till 80’s of the 20th century); 2) empirical cumulative (from 90s till the first decade of the XXI century); 3) theoretical generalization (from the second decade of the XXI century till this day). The theoretical advantages of national teachers in forming the idea of student youth’s tolerance with established periods are characterized. It was found that the chronological boundaries of the research (the second half of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st century) are characterized by significant changes in the orientations of native education with the gradual introduction of the ideology of humanism, democracy, tolerance.
