The dissertation is a complex research of the problem of formation of social activity of younger school students in extracurricular educational activity. The current state of education implies active changes in content, methods, teaching aids, which will contribute to the formation of a socially active junior student. An important component of a person’s social activity is the formation of relationships between the individual and the social environment. Theories of foreign and domestic scientists on the formation of social activity of the individual are analyzed. Modern interpretations of the categories «social», «activity», «activity», «personality activity», «social activity», «extracurricular», «extra-curricular activity» are generalized. The state of elaboration of the problem of formation of social activity of younger school students in extra-curricular educational activity in psychological-pedagogical theory is investigated. Emphasis is placed on the role of the teacher in the formation of social activity of children. The substantive structure of formation of social activity of younger schoolchildren in extracurricular educational activities. It is proved that the formation of social activity of younger students in extracurricular educational activities will be effective if it is balanced.
