Subject: the functioning of managing the departments of Institutes of Postgraduate Education (IPE) in terms of reforming the educational system of Ukraine; objective of research: developing of the scientifically based adaptive management system of the development of department system of Institutes of Postgraduate Education, which would integrate purpose-oriented interaction of departments and other structural units into the IPE department system and given trends of its developments in terms of modern society and its practical approbation; methods: analysis, synthesis, simulation, event analysis, content analysis, correlation analysis, observations, questionnaires, surveys, tests, mathematical methods of statistics; the novelty is regarded as the conceptual model of department system adaptive management has been developed, which is taking into account trends of its developments in terms of modern society's changes; highlighted theoretical and methodological foundations for department system adaptive management as a component of the social management in the context of competency-based learning; developed methods of department system adaptive management and highlighted its tests; put into practice terms "department of IPE", "IPE department system", "coordination", "organizational and structural development of department system", "adaptive management on the development of IPE department system", "adaptive management' methods on the development of IPE department system", "specific monitoring tools for marketing of adaptive management on the development of IPE department system"; the conceptual model of department system adaptive management has been developed and validated; the criteria for evaluation of employees and IPE departments has been established and approved; research outcomes: scientific contribution to the implementation of the conceptual model of department system adaptive management; gained specific monitoring tools for marketing of adaptive management on the development of IPE department system including a complex of Qualimetrics submodels; Technology Implementation Plan of the conceptual model of department system adaptive management for Deans/Directors of Institutes of Postgraduate Education; a theory of adaptive management has extended by specific monitoring tools for marketing of adaptive management on the development of IPE department system; field: the theory and methods of educational management.
