Pavlova T. Avant-garde in the fine art of Kharkiv in the XX century.

The thesis deals with the formation of modernism in art of Kharkiv. The development features of the region led to the compilation of particular cultural context in which the value of technological development came to the fore aiming at an upgrade that affected the artistic priorities. Kharkiv Art of the twentieth century is one of the most striking phenomena in the artistic culture of Ukraine that emerged and developed against the background of national revival and Europeanization movement. Contribution of Kharkiv artists to the world culture is determined primarily by the avant-garde art. At the turn of the 20th century Kharkiv becomes an auspicious place for the development of arts centre with bohemian studio. A unique phenomenon in the context of Kharkiv culture was an original artistic centre in Krasna Polyana. Located in a picturesque natural setting, the Sinyakovs' farmstead became a key topos in early avant-garde art of Kharkiv, and was important for the formation of futurism. The consolidation of avant-garde force in the «Union of the Seven» association was a crucial event in the development of early avant-garde in Kharkiv, marking an important event in the Ukrainian culture of those days.
