Brendak A. Mechanisms of Risk Management in the Area of the State Customs Affairs of Ukraine.

The dissertation summarizes and solves the current scientific problem, which is to substantiate the theoretical approaches and develop practical recommendations for improving risk management mechanisms in the area of the state customs affairs of Ukraine. In accordance with the goals and objectives of the study, the following conclusions of scientific and practical nature have been formulated. It is determined that significant changes in the external and internal environment of public authorities activities, the growing dynamics, and amount of information necessary for them to make informed management decisions, necessitated the use of risk-oriented tools in the field of public administration. According to modern international practice, there is increasing use of risk as the main criterion for assessing the feasibility of the authorities to take control measures during their scheduled and unscheduled inspections to maximize detection, prevention, and minimization of violations of the law. In view of the above, the mechanisms of customs risk management in the area of state customs affairs are described, which according to the specifics of the means used can be presented as legal, organizational, motivational, informational, communication, and other mechanisms, and on the basis of stages and specific management procedures – as risk detection mechanisms, risk analysis and assessment with identification of risk management priorities, development of risk profiles, targeting, risk response, evaluation of results/feedback of measures taken, etc.
