The dissertation theoretically substantiated, developed and experimentally verified the effectiveness of the method of forming text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation of German journalistic texts.The scientific novelty of the research and its main achievements are that, for the first time, a method of forming text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation of German journalistic texts, which involves step-by-step formation of certain text-creating skills and abilities; use of a system of exercises that correlates with the stages and consists of subsystems of exercises aimed at analyzing features of German journalistic texts, forming and developing skills and abilities of written translation of journalistic texts; cyclical implementation of the developed model of training with gradually increasing difficulties and variation of target skills and abilities has been theoretically substantiated and developed; the essence and content of the text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation is clarified; the principles and criteria for the selection of educational material, the principles of the formation of text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation of German journalistic texts, the criteria for evaluating the level of the formation of text-creating competence in written translation have been improved; the question of determining the role and place of text-creating competence in the structure of professional competence in translation gained further development. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in: the selection of authentic educational material, the development of sets of exercises, the preparation of methodological recommendations for teachers on the formation of text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation of German journalistic texts, developing a textbook. Text-creating competence in written translation is an ability formed as a result of the implementation of acquired theoretical knowledge and skills of text perception and text creation of written texts of a certain genre, which ensure the success of text-creating activity by interpreting the embedded content of the original by means of the language of translation, preserving the peculiarities of foreign language expression. The content of text-creating competence in written translation of German journalistic texts is determined as a combination of knowledge, skills and abilities. The main transformations used in the translation of German journalistic texts are highlighted, namely: transliteration, tracing, generalization, concretization, modulation, antonymic translation, addition, omission, sentence structure, sentence combination, grammatical replacement of word form or part of speech, change of word order, compensation, the use of which is determined by different lexical-grammatical systems of the German and Ukrainian languages.In order to carry out a high-quality selection of texts the principles (accessibility, appropriate difficulty and communicative expediency; thematicity; exemplarity and typicality; correspondence to the interests of students; integrability; systematicity and consistency) and criteria (authenticity, translation value, informativeness, source authority, genre-stylistic conformity, emotionality and aesthetic value) of texts selection have been grounded. A system of exercises for the formation of text-creating competence of future philologists in written translation of German journalistic texts, which contains subsystems and groups of exercises, is substantiated. The first subsystem provides exercises on the analysis of features of journalistic texts and consists of three groups of exercises – on the analysis of structural and linguistic features of journalistic texts, as well as on the analysis of translation features of journalistic texts. The second subsystem is aimed at the formation and development of the skills of written translation of journalistic texts and provides for three groups of exercises – on the formation and development of lexical and grammatical skills of written translation, on the development of skills in the use of cohesive means. The third subsystem is aimed at the formation and development of the skills of written translation of journalistic texts and is implemented in three groups of exercises – on the formation and development of the skills to carry out translation analysis of the text, the ability to create texts in the Ukrainian language taking into account the peculiarities of the original text, on texts analysis and editing.A model of the organization of training for the formation of text-creating competence of future philologists in the written translation of German journalistic texts is presented. The model is cyclical, as it involves a gradual increase in difficulties, while the cycles differ in terms of content and partially targeted skills.
