The methods, techniques and means of forming the mathematical competence of ninth-grade students in the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language are identified and substantiated in the dissertation.
The object of the study is the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language on the competence-based basis.
The purpose of the study is to substantiate scientifically, develop and experimentally test methods, techniques and means of forming the mathematical competence of ninth-grade students in the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language.
The following methods were used to achieve the aim of the study and solve its tasks: 1) theoretical: study and analysis of scientific literature (philosophical, linguistic, psychological, pedagogical, linguodidactic) and regulatory documents to determine the conceptual and categorical apparatus and substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study; classification, systematisation, comparison and generalisation of scientific provisions on the problem for the development of methods, techniques and means of forming students' mathematical competence; comparison, analysis and synthesis of the results of experimental training; 2) empirical: surveys, questionnaires.
The scientific novelty of the study is that for the first time in Ukraine the methods, techniques, means of forming the mathematical competence of ninth-grade students in the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language are scientifically substantiated; the content of the concept of "mathematical competence" is clarified; the key concepts of the study are interpreted: "the mathematical competence of students in teaching the Ukrainian language", "the mathematical competence of ninth-grade students in the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language"; the structural components of mathematical competence (motivational and value, cognitive, logical, communicative) are specified, psychological factors influencing the formation of mathematical competence are described; approaches (personality-oriented, competence-based, activity-based), principles (general didactic – traditional and modern, linguodidactic – general methodological and specific) are defined.
To achieve this goal experimental work was carried out in 2022-2023. The work included three stages: stating, formative, and control. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed the effectiveness of the created methodology aimed at forming mathematical competence, which is key in preparing a person for full self-realisation in the society. The ability to analyse, solve problematic issues, think logically and critically, make informed decisions, and achieve goals not only contribute to successful learning activities, but also to readiness for future challenges, and open the way to success in various spheres of life.
The practical significance of the research results lies in the development, substantiation and testing of methods, techniques and means of forming the mathematical competence of ninth-grade students in the process of teaching the syntax of the Ukrainian language according to the New Ukrainian School reform. The results of the study can be used by: 1) teachers of the Ukrainian language in their practical work in general secondary education institutions; 2) teachers in the training of bachelors of philology in classes on methods of teaching the Ukrainian language in higher education; 3) consultants of professional development centres for teachers; 4) mentors and coaches of training courses; 5) speakers in the organisation of seminars, trainings, webinars. The generalised provisions and conclusions are important for the development of programmes, courses (online courses) for teaching the Ukrainian language on the competence basis, the creation of textbooks and teaching and learning materials (manuals, workbooks) for teaching the Ukrainian language; in research on the mathematical competence in teaching the Ukrainian language.
